Rajinikanth's latest gangster film, Coolie, is enjoying a successful and steady run at the box office since its release on August 14, 2025. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film has maintained strong momentum even after more than two and a half weeks in theatres. Despite releasing alongside Ayan Mukerji's much-anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, Coolie is nearing the impressive milestone of Rs 280 crore in domestic collections.
Coolie Box Office Collection Day 18 Updates
On its third Sunday (Day 18), Coolie earned an estimated Rs 3 crore net across all languages, according to early figures from Sacnilk. This brought its total earnings in India to Rs 279 crore, underscoring the film's strong hold well into its third weekend. The Sunday collection marked an increase compared to Day 16's Rs 1.7 crore and Day 17's Rs 2.8 crore, indicating sustained audience interest.

Coolie had a blockbuster opening, earning Rs 65 crore on its first day (Thursday), followed by Rs 54.75 crore on Friday and Rs 39.5 crore on Saturday. The first Sunday brought in Rs 35.25 crore, rounding off a powerful opening weekend. Collections then declined but remained steady, with Rs 12 crore on Monday, Rs 9.5 crore on Tuesday, Rs 7.5 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 6.15 crore on the following Thursday.
By the end of its first week, the film had amassed a total of Rs 229.65 crore. The second week added another Rs 41.85 crore, bringing the cumulative total to Rs 279 crore. During the third weekend, the daily earnings showed a positive trend with Rs 1.7 crore on Day 16 (Friday), Rs 2.8 crore on Day 17 (Saturday) and Rs 3 crore on Day 18 (Sunday).
The film's second weekend proved strong as well, with earnings exceeding Rs 10 crore on both Saturday and Sunday. This upward trend continued into the third weekend, reflecting Rajinikanth's enduring box office appeal.
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, Coolie maintained steady occupancy rates across multiple regions. The Tamil version recorded 25.92% occupancy, while the Hindi and Telugu versions attracted 18.94% and 19.30% occupancy respectively. These numbers highlight the film's broad appeal not only in Tamil Nadu but also among Hindi and Telugu-speaking audiences across India.
Rajinikanth As Deva in Coolie
Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva, a former coolie union leader who now manages affordable housing for students. The story takes a dramatic turn when his friend Rajasekhar dies under mysterious circumstances, leaving behind three daughters, including Preethi, played by Shruti Haasan.
Deva's investigation leads him to confront Simon, a dangerous cartel leader portrayed by Nagarjuna, and Dayal, played by Soubin Shahir, who hides a dark secret. The film also features special appearances by Upendra and Aamir Khan, adding to its excitement and star power.
The film's impressive box office performance underscores Rajinikanth's lasting popularity and his ability to draw audiences amid stiff competition from big releases like War 2. Its widespread success across different languages highlights its strong connection with viewers nationwide.
