COVID-19 Measures: Delhi Govt Doubles Pension For Elderly, Widows, Specially-Abled

On Saturday, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced a slew of measures to deal with the effects of coronavirus spread. He said that the national capital will not go into lockdown for now but the step maybe taken if the need arises.

Among major announcements, Kejriwal doubled the pension for elderly, widows, specially-abled in view of Covid-19.

 

On 22 March, the Janata Curfew day, 50 percent buses won't ply on Delhi roads.

Further, 72 lakh residents of Delhi will get ration from fair price shops. The ration per person being increased by 50 percent, will be provided free.

Food will be provided to the homeless in Delhi's night shelters.

As of now, the city has recorded 26 cases of COVID-19 with one death. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a total of 271 individuals have been confirmed positive with the virus across the country.

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi interacted with the chief ministers of all states via video conferencing to discuss measures to combat COVID-19 spread.

On Thursday, Modi called for "Janata curfew" on 22 March between 7 am to 9 pm to prepare for challenges to be faced in the future.
