Crash in Gold Rate Today in India Continues for Second Day; 24K Falls Rs 36,500; Check Latest Prices on 24June
Gold rates in India extended their decline for the second straight day on Wednesday, June 24, tracking weakness in global bullion markets. The price of 24 Karat gold fell by Rs 27 per gram to Rs 14,433, while 22 Karat gold slipped by Rs 25 per gram to Rs 13,230. The latest correction has dragged gold prices down by nearly Rs 36,500 per 100 grams of 24 Karat gold over the past two days, pushing the precious metal to its lowest level in almost two weeks.
The sharp selloff comes as investors grapple with rising expectations of higher US interest rates, a stronger US dollar and a technology-led decline in global equity markets. Analysts believe many traders have been raising cash by unwinding positions in precious metals, reducing gold's appeal as a safe-haven asset. Meanwhile, silver prices remained steady at Rs 245 per gram and Rs 2,45,000 per kilogram in the domestic market.
12% Crash in Gold in June Quarter; Steepest Decline Since December 2016
Globally, gold has dropped nearly 12% during the June quarter and is on course for its steepest quarterly decline since December 2016. From its record peak of around $5,417 per ounce, the yellow metal has retreated roughly 24%, highlighting a significant shift in investor sentiment amid improving risk appetite and changing expectations for global financial markets.
