Cyclone Montha LIVE Updates: A deep depression has formed in the Bay of Bengal, intensifying by the minute into a cyclonic storm since yesterday night. The weather department has called it 'Cyclone Montha' which will move west-northwest for another six hours before gathering massive strength by late hours of October 27. Further, the storm is expected to hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh in morning of October 28.

IMD has issued red alert in states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu. Other southern states are also expected to face the torrent of heavy showers due to the cyclone.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dialled to , Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to review the situation. The three states have also declared school holidays. Accordingly, train and flights will be impacted significantly.

All schools including private ones are announced to be closed in Gajapati district of Odisha till October 30th due to its exposure towards the cyclone. Further, eight other districts have declared school holidays namely Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nabarangpur.

Cyclone Montha Live Updates: Andhra Pradesh On High Alert

The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm last night. The storm is centered around 12°N and 85°E, over the Southwest and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal. The cyclone will move west-northwest for another six hours and thereafter add more of a northerly component. During this phase, it is likely to gather more strength and become severe by late evening today. It is likely to head for the Andhra Pradesh coast and strike sometime tomorrow evening, as per Skymet Weather.
