India-EU trade opportunities grow as Cyprus offers gateway role, says President Nikos Christodoulides

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides told an event at the National Stock Exchange of India that India and the European Union offer strong trade and economic opportunities. He said Cyprus aims to serve as a gateway for Indian companies entering the EU market, highlighting potential cooperation in financial services, technology, connectivity, trading, and energy.

Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides said India and the European Union offer "infinite opportunity\" in trade and economics. Christodoulides spoke at an event hosted at India’s largest stock bourse, NSE. Christodoulides said Cyprus is positioning itself as a gateway for Indian firms. The route would help Indian companies scale into the EU market.

Cyprus promotes India-EU trade links

Christodoulides said India is \"one of the most dynamic economies in the world.\" Christodoulides also said Europe remains \"one of the worlds largest and most stable markets.\" Christodoulides linked both markets to scale and stability. Christodoulides said both sides can gain through closer business and economic ties.

India EU trade opportunities

Christodoulides said India and the EU are among the world’s largest democracies. Christodoulides said the combined market covers two billion people. Christodoulides added, \"They are two of the worlds largest democracies with a combined market of two billion people. The two together translate into infinite opportunity. And we look forward to realising these opportunities together.\"

Christodoulides said the partnership with India is highly important to Cyprus. Christodoulides said the future direction of ties is \"crystal clear.\" Christodoulides also said Cyprus will do its part to strengthen links. Christodoulides said the focus is on practical cooperation that supports growth.

India EU trade partnerships via Cyprus

Christodoulides said fresh partnerships are needed across key sectors. Christodoulides listed financial services, technology innovation, trading, connectivity, and energy. Christodoulides said these areas can support stronger links. Christodoulides presented Cyprus as a platform that can connect businesses across regions.

Christodoulides said, \"Cypress combines European credibility and regulatory centricity with agility, connectivity, and openness to global partnerships.\" Christodoulides framed this as a base for wider cooperation. Christodoulides said Cyprus wants to help Indian companies engage with the EU. Christodoulides said the intent is to convert interest into outcomes.

Christodoulides visited India for four days. Christodoulides left for New Delhi later on Thursday evening. The remarks at NSE outlined Cyprus’s stated role in supporting India-EU business links. Christodoulides said Cyprus intends to deepen ties through sector partnerships. The visit continued with travel onward to New Delhi.
