School students across Telangana are set for an extended break during the upcoming festive season, giving families more time to plan celebrations, travel and visits to relatives. The holiday schedule is also likely to be useful for parents trying to coordinate their children's vacation with office leave and other family commitments.

The State's academic calendar has laid out the Dasara vacation for schools, along with the examination schedule that students will complete before the festive break. Junior colleges will follow a slightly different calendar, including a separate reopening date for Intermediate students.

Telangana Dasara Holidays 2026: Check School Vacation Dates

Schools across Telangana will remain closed for 13 days for the Dasara holidays. The vacation will begin on October 10 and continue until October 22, with regular classes scheduled to resume on October 23.

The holiday schedule applies to government, aided and private schools across the State. Since the break follows the first round of major assessments, students will complete their scheduled examinations before the vacation begins.

SA-I Exams To Be Held Before Dasara Break

The Summative Assessment-I examinations will be completed before students enter the festive vacation. For Classes VI to X, the exams are scheduled between October 1 and October 9. Students in the primary section will have their SA-I examinations from October 5 to October 9.

This means the assessment schedule will conclude immediately before the Dasara holidays begin. The arrangement gives families a clearer academic window for making travel plans, while students can enter the vacation after completing their scheduled examinations.

Telangana Junior Colleges To Follow Different Holiday Schedule

Intermediate students in Telangana will have a Dasara break as well, although their vacation will be one day shorter than the school holiday. Junior colleges will remain closed from October 10 to October 21, with classes scheduled to resume on October 22. Before the break, Intermediate students will appear for their half-yearly examinations from October 3 to October 9.

The difference in reopening dates will matter for families with children studying in both schools and junior colleges. School students will return on October 23, while junior college students are scheduled to resume classes a day earlier.
