Gujarat Government Announces 3% Increase in Dearness Allowance for Employees and Pensioners
The Gujarat government has decided to increase the dearness allowance (DA) for approximately nine lakh employees and pensioners. This increment of 3% raises the DA to 53% of the basic pay, effective retrospectively from July 1, 2024. The finance department released a resolution confirming this change under the Gujarat State Services Pay Revision Rules, 2016.

Impact on Employees and Pensioners
This adjustment will benefit over nine lakh individuals, including state government and panchayat employees. Additionally, teaching and non-teaching staff in secondary and higher secondary schools, as well as those in aided non-government schools under the 7th Pay Commission, will also see benefits. The resolution stated that arrears from July to November would be paid with December salaries and pensions in January 2025.
Inclusion of Various Staff Categories
Primary teachers and employees on deputation or transfer in panchayats, who have been approved for pay revision according to the commission, will also receive this benefit with necessary adjustments. The decision to enhance the DA from 50% to 53% was carefully considered by the government.
The resolution clearly stated, "After careful consideration, DA is sanctioned at 53% of basic salary." This decision reflects the government's commitment to addressing the financial needs of its employees and pensioners effectively.
