December Weather In Karnataka: Cold Wave, Fogs To Rains Warning Till New Year In Bengaluru, Other Areas

The state of Karnataka has witnessed harsher winter with intense cold waves, dense fogs and even periodical rains in December month, impacting daily lives of citizens frequently. However, from December 27th to new year's day, weather is likely to be influenced by cold, light moderate rains and early mists. In Bengaluru, the next 48 hours are likely to be mostly clear skies; however, unseasonal downpour is expected during New Year's Eve till January 1st of 2026.

Bengaluru Weather:

On December 27, IMD expects dry weather across all districts in Karnataka. The skies are likely to mainly clear, however, fog/mists could prevail in the early mornings hours in some areas of Bengaluru. The maximum and minimum temperature is expected to be in the range of 28°C and 16°C respectively. The situation is likely to be the same on from December 28th to December 30th.

However, on December 31st, IMD predicts light rain in or or two places over Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Chamarajanagara, Mysuru & Shivamogga districts. Dry weather likely to prevail over Ballari, Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara districts. A similar situation is expected on January 1st as well.

Karnataka Weather: Cold Wave

According to IMD, based on the data, the minimum t temperatures were in the range of 8.1 - 12.5°C on December 26th, over Vijayapura ,Bidar ,Belagavi Airport ,Dharwad ,Gadag ,Haveri and Raichur of North Interior Karnataka and Hassan ,Mysuru ,Shivamogga ,Mandya AWS and Davangere of South Interior Karnataka. 14.8 - 17.0°C over Kalaburgi and Koppal AWS of North Interior Karnataka and Chintamani ,Chitradurga ,Bengaluru KIAL AP ,Bengaluru HAL AP and Bengaluru City of South Interior Karnataka.18.5-22.2°C over Honnavar, Karwar, Mangalore and Shakthinagar of Coastal Karnataka.

Further, it explained that the minimum temperatures were Markedly below normal over Hassan of South Interior Karnataka. They were Appreciably below normal over Bidar, Vijayapura, Raichur, Belagavi Airport and Gadag of North Interior Karnataka and Shivamoga & Mysuru of South Interior Karnataka. They were Below normal over Honnavar and Karwar of Coastal Karnataka, Dharwad and Haveri of North Interior Karnataka and Davangere and Mandaya of South Interior Karnataka. Minimum temperatures were normal over the remaining places.

Also, in the past 24 hours, appreciably rise was observed over Bengaluru KIAL AP of South Interior Karnataka. No Large Change in minimum temperatures were observed over the remaining places.
