Delhi Budget 2024-25: What to Expect

Budget to be Tabled Early Next Week

The budget is likely to be tabled in the Assembly early next week, possibly on Monday, as per a source. With 2024 being an election year, the government is anticipated to make significant announcements in the budget.

Atishi's First Budget as Finance Minister

This will be Atishi's maiden budget as the Finance Minister after her induction into the cabinet in March last year. The budget session of the Delhi Assembly commenced on February 15 and was initially scheduled to conclude on February 21. However, it was extended till the first week of March due to delays in budget finalization and the need for approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Focus on Education, Health, Power, and Roads

The budget is expected to prioritize sectors such as education, health, power, and roads, among others. Last year, the budget was presented by Kailash Gahlot, who was assigned the finance portfolio following the arrest of former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case on February 26.
