Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in her first budget presentation, unveiled the Delhi Budget 2025-26, outlining a roadmap for making the national capital self-reliant. The BJP-led Delhi government has placed a strong emphasis on infrastructure, women's welfare, sanitation, and public welfare schemes.
A major highlight of the budget is its Rs. 1 lakh crore outlay, which shows over a 30% increase from the previous year. The budget also includes a significant rise in capital expenditure to Rs. Rs.28,000 crore. Here are the top highlights of the Delhi budget 2025:
Major Announcements in the Delhi Budget 2025
1. Rs. 2,500 Monthly for Women Under 'Mahila Samridhi Yojana'
Living up to the promises made in the manifesto, the Delhi government has allocated Rs. 5,100 crore for the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, which will provide 2,500 per month to each eligible woman to provide financial independence.
2. Rs. 9,000 Crore for Clean Drinking Water & Sanitation
A massive allocation of Rs. 9,000 crore has been earmarked for clean drinking water and improved sanitation facilities, ensuring access to basic necessities for all residents.

3. Rs. 500 Crore for Yamuna Cleaning & Water Treatment
A much-needed move of the hour, the government has set aside Rs. 500 crore for Yamuna cleaning. CM Rekha Gupta announced that only treated water will enter the river through the decentralisation of 40 sewer treatment plants (STPs).
4. Rs. 1000 crore Boost for Connectivity & Infrastructure
To improve Delhi-NCR's connectivity, the government has allocated Rs. 1,000 crore, while another Rs. Rs.3,843 crore will be used for road and bridge infrastructure development.
5. Rs. 100 Crore for 100 New Atal Canteens
The BJP-led Delhi government will set up 100 Atal Canteens across the city, with Rs. 100 crore allocated to provide affordable meals to the underprivileged.
6. Rs. 2,144 Crore for PM Jan Arogya Yojana
Healthcare remains a priority in the Delhi Budget 2025, with Rs. 2,144 crore allocated to the PM Jan Arogya Yojana, ensuring affordable medical care for Delhiites.
7. Rs. 696 Crore for Slum Development
A budget of Rs. 696 crore has been dedicated to the development of slum clusters and JJ colonies, improving living conditions for economically weaker sections.
8. Rs. Rs.100 Crore for CM Shri Schools & Rs. 750 Crore for Free Laptops
Delhi's education sector will get a major push with the opening of new 'CM Shri schools', inspired by PM Shri schools. Rs. 750 crore has been allocated to distribute free laptops to 1,200 students who pass Class 10.
9. Rs. 100 Crore for Removal of Overhead Electrical Lines
To modernise Delhi's power infrastructure, the government will launch a pilot project with Rs. 100 crore to remove overhead electrical lines and shift high-tension power lines underground.
10. Rs. Rs.30 Crore for International Film Festival in Delhi
The Delhi government is set to boost cultural initiatives by hosting the International Film Festival, for which Rs. 30 crore has been allocated in the budget.
11. 50,000 New CCTV Cameras
CM Rekha Gupta in the Delhi Budget 2025 made a major announcement to enhance women's safety and city surveillance; 50,000 CCTV cameras will be installed across the capital, reinforcing security measures.
