Delhi Fog: 26 Trains Run Late In National Capital Due To Poor Visibility

Many train services suffered due to the dense fog in Delhi. Indian Railways said that nearly 26 trains are running late in the National Capital due to heavy fog. Meanwhile, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alert for dense to very dense fog with visibility less than 50 meters during night and morning hours at some pockets over Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi from January 1 to January 3.

Additionally, the weather department has also issued severe to very severe cold day warning as minimum temperature likely to plummet below 10 degree Celsius at several pockets of Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on January 1 and January 2.

As per information issued by IMD, a "very dense" is announced when visibility remains between 0 and 50 metres and "dense" remains when visibility ranges between 51 and 200 metres. Meanwhile, fog is considered "moderate" when visibility ranges between 201 and 500 metres and "shallow" when visibility ranges between 501 and 1000 metres.

It is worth mentioning here that the air quality in Delhi stood in 'very poor' category on January 2, 2024. The overall AQI of Delhi stayed at 346 today at 6.30 am, as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) canceled Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR with immediate effect on January 1. The GRAP-III was invoked across Delhi-NCR on December 22 to cope with poor air quality and rising air pollution in the city.
