Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan criticised the Delhi government for not implementing central schemes aimed at farmers. He expressed disappointment that farmers in the region were missing out on essential benefits. During a Lok Sabha session, Chauhan urged the Delhi government to focus on farmer welfare and adopt beneficial schemes, especially in areas around the national capital.

South Delhi BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri highlighted the issue, stating that the Delhi government was not executing schemes introduced by the Modi government for farmers nationwide. Chauhan emphasised that the Centre collaborates with state governments to ensure schemes reach farmers. He described it as unfortunate that Delhi's farmers were not benefiting from many schemes.
Direct Benefit Transfer for Organic Fertilisers
Chauhan mentioned the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system for organic fertilisers, where subsidies are directly transferred to farmers' accounts. He assured that farmers involved in organic farming in Delhi would receive full support from the Centre. "We provide direct assistance to farmers through DBT for organic fertilisers. Even in Delhi, we will fully support and help farmers practising organic farming," he stated.
Chauhan also requested the Delhi government to implement farmer-centric schemes due to the presence of agricultural land and farming activities around Delhi. "I request the Delhi government to implement farmer-centric schemes for the benefit of farmers as there is agricultural land and farming activity around Delhi," he added.
The minister's comments underscore the importance of cooperation between central and state governments to ensure that farmers receive necessary support. By implementing these schemes, farmers can access crucial resources and benefits, enhancing their productivity and livelihoods.
