Delhi Government to Engage Concessionaire for Bhorgarh Industrial Area Redevelopment and Management

The Delhi government is set to hire a concessionaire for the redevelopment and management of Bhorgarh Industrial Area, Bawana Phase II. Additionally, project management units (PMUs) will be established for nine other industrial areas, according to Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. This initiative aims to address the long-standing demands of industrialists in the region.

Delhi Engages Concessionaire for Bhorgarh Redevelopment

Sirsa stated that Bhorgarh will be transformed into a model industrial zone that is clean, safe, efficient, and free from pollution. For the remaining ten areas, PMUs are being set up, with the request for proposal (RFP) already completed and pre-bid meetings held. The minister highlighted that the public-private partnership (PPP) model has proven successful in Bawana and Narela.

World-Class Facilities Planned

The PPP approach will now extend to Bhorgarh Bawana Part-2 and other ten industrial areas, promising world-class facilities. The Bawana and Narela Industrial Areas have set benchmarks in cleanliness, maintenance, and infrastructure development. This successful model will be replicated across all remaining industrial areas under administration.

Sirsa mentioned that similar redevelopment plans are underway for all industrial areas managed by the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC). These plans are expected to be implemented within a year. The role of the concessionaire will include comprehensive tasks such as laying and maintaining pothole-free roads and stormwater drainage systems.

Focus on Sustainability

Smart lighting installations and CCTV-based 24x7 surveillance are also part of the infrastructure upgrades. The government's commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by the plantation target assigned to DSIIDC for 2025-26. This target includes planting 85,000 green units, consisting of 25,000 trees, 50,000 shrubs, and 10,000 bamboo plants.

These efforts aim to contribute to a cleaner and greener industrial future for Delhi. Sirsa emphasised that these initiatives will usher in a new era of industrial planning and eco-conscious growth across the region.
