Delhi will observe a special holiday on Friday, September 11, on the occasion of the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit being held at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13.

While government offices and schools will be closed, banks, Metro services, airports and railway stations are expected to function normally.

The Delhi government has announced the closure of its offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings on September 11.

Central government offices located in Delhi and New Delhi will also stay closed due to the summit and the security arrangements being put in place for the high-profile event.

Delhi Holiday September 11: What Will Be Closed?

The special holiday will apply to several government institutions and educational establishments across Delhi.

Government offices: All Delhi government offices will remain closed on Friday, September 11. The order also covers Delhi government autonomous bodies and PSUs.

Central government offices: Central government offices located in Delhi and New Delhi will also observe the holiday because of the BRICS summit and the associated security arrangements.

Schools: Government, government-aided and recognised unaided private schools under the Directorate of Education's jurisdiction will remain closed.

Courts: Courts in Delhi are also reported to remain closed on September 11.

Are Banks Closed In Delhi On September 11?

No. Banks are not scheduled to observe a holiday in Delhi on September 11.

The September 11 closure is linked to the BRICS summit and government administrative arrangements rather than a regular RBI bank holiday. Therefore, bank branches in Delhi and New Delhi are expected to remain open and operate normally.

Customers should, however, keep in mind that local operational changes are always possible, so those requiring urgent branch services may want to check with their individual bank.

Is Delhi Metro Open On September 11?

Yes. Delhi Metro services will continue to operate. Metro stations across Delhi will remain available to commuters.

Are Delhi Airport And Railway Stations Open?

Yes. Delhi's airports and railway stations will continue to function.

Passengers travelling through the airport or major railway stations should nevertheless plan their journeys carefully. Security arrangements and VVIP movements connected with the BRICS summit could lead to temporary traffic restrictions and delays on roads.

Railway passengers travelling to New Delhi, Old Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations should also allow additional travel time.

Delhi Traffic Restrictions On September 11-13

Delhi Police has announced traffic restrictions and diversions in connection with the BRICS summit. More than 35 roads will be subject to traffic controls, while 22 diversion points have been identified.
