Delhi launches 500 kW Dwarka solar

Gupta inaugurated a 500 kilowatt solar power plant at the Air Force and Naval Officers Enclave in Dwarka Sector-7 on Saturday. Gupta said solar power is expanding across India to support energy self-reliance goals. Gupta added that Delhi is also pushing wider use of clean energy in homes and societies.

The 500 kW installation is among the largest residential solar projects in the national capital. The plant was built at a cost of nearly Rs 2 crore. It received a subsidy of Rs 90 lakh from the central government. The Delhi government provided an additional Rs 10 lakh for the project.

Gupta said the project will lower the enclave’s power costs once fully operational. Monthly electricity spending is expected to fall from around Rs 12 lakh to nearly Rs 6 lakh. That change is estimated to save about Rs 72 lakh each year. Gupta shared these figures in a statement.

Delhi rooftop solar systems subsidy and household shift

Gupta said residents are being encouraged to install rooftop solar systems through financial support. "We are encouraging households to adopt rooftop solar systems by providing a combined subsidy of over Rs 1 lakh under the schemes of the central and the Delhi government,\" Gupta said. Gupta urged people to switch to solar to cut bills and support environmental conservation.

Addressing the gathering, Gupta said the initiative also reflects shared environmental duty. Gupta said the plant is not only meant to save energy. Gupta called it an example of society’s collective responsibility towards environmental conservation. Gupta said Delhi will continue promoting solar energy and energy-efficient solutions across the capital.
