Delhi Vehicle Entry Restrictions From November 1: Check Which Vehicles Face Ban & New Rules

Delhi will implement a new set of vehicle entry restrictions and pollution-control measures from tomorrow, i.e., November 1st, as authorities intensify efforts to tackle rising air pollution in the national capital.

The new measures will affect vehicles entering Delhi from neighbouring states, commercial transport operators, commuters and businesses.

Under the revised restrictions, BS-VI compliant vehicles, CNG vehicles and electric vehicles will be allowed to enter Delhi, subject to applicable regulations.

However, vehicles that do not meet the prescribed emission standards, certain non-compliant interstate commercial vehicles, trucks not destined for Delhi and other specified categories will face restrictions.

The Delhi Traffic Police has also issued an advisory regarding the permitted vehicle categories and restrictions.

Delhi Vehicle Entry Rules From November 1: Which Vehicles Are Allowed?

According to the Delhi Traffic Police advisory issued on October 29, the following categories of vehicles are permitted to enter Delhi, subject to applicable rules:

BS-VI compliant vehicles.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles.
Electric vehicles (EVs).
Vehicles covered under applicable exemptions.

The restrictions are intended to prevent highly polluting vehicles from entering the national capital, particularly during the winter months when pollution levels generally deteriorate.

Which Vehicles Face Restrictions From November 1?

The new enforcement measures will affect several categories of vehicles entering Delhi.

These include vehicles below BS-VI emission standards, vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), non-compliant interstate buses and trucks that are not destined for Delhi.

Tractors and jugaad vehicles are also among the categories facing restrictions.

Certain vehicles registered outside Delhi will also face entry curbs, particularly non-compliant commercial vehicles.
Delhi Truck Entry Ban: Non-Essential Vehicles Must Take Alternative Routes

Commercial transport operators will also face tighter restrictions from November 1.

Non-essential trucks passing through Delhi will be required to use alternative routes, including the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Western Peripheral Expressway, instead of entering the national capital.

No PUC, No Fuel Rule From November 1

In another major pollution-control measure, vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) will not be supplied fuel at petrol pumps in Delhi from November 1. The restriction applies to fuel stations supplying petrol, diesel, CNG and LPG.
