IMD Weather Alert: Heavy Rain in Haryana, Chandigarh, Kerala, Karnataka on June 12, Red Alert For Delhi-NCR
IMD Weather Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Delhi-NCR region for Friday, June 12. The weather forecasting agency has warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 90 kilometres per hour. Meanwhile, several areas of coastal Karnataka and Kerala may receive heavy rainfall. In North India, Chandigarh and Haryana are also likely to witness rainfall on Friday, June 12.

Delhi Weather Today: IMD Issues Red Alert
IMD has issued a red alert for Delhi due to thunderstorms and high-speed winds, as per an ANI report. The government earlier issued a warning of an extremely severe alert, cautioning that strong thunderstorms with wind speeds of 70-90 kmph, gusting up to 100 kmph, accompanied by lightning, moderate to heavy rainfall, and hail, could affect parts of the district over the next three hours.
Multiple areas in Delhi are expected to see mild rainfall along with light thunderstorms with lightning. South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahadra, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, New Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, and North Delhi are likely to remain affected due to harsh weather conditions in Delhi today.
Delhi weather today is likely to see fall in temperatures with a spell of very light to light rainfall expected in morning accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds travelling at speeds of 40-50 km/h.
The national capital is also expected to see similar spell of very light to light rain in afternoon and evening that may also bring some respite from massive surge in heat.
According to IMD, "During morning - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph), During forenoon - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph)".
"During afternoon - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph), During evening - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph)," the IMD said.
IMD Weather Alert For Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana, Chandigarh
In its weather bulletin, the IMD earlier stated that Delhi, along with Haryana and Chandigarh, is expected to experience hailstorms during June 11-12. The weather office has also extended this alert to several other parts of North India.
The weather forecasting agency has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala, Mahe, and coastal Karnataka on June 12. Northern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya may also witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 12 and June 12. Heavy rainfall in north eastern states is likely to continue until June 7. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are also likely to witness rainfall over several consecutive days.
