A change in weather conditions is expected across Delhi-NCR, as the India Meteorological Department(IMD) has predicted rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds on April 7 and 8. The shift is likely to bring temporary relief from the rising early summer heat, while also improving air quality levels due to stronger winds and precipitation clearing pollutants.

Delhi Weather Update

IMD Weather Alert: Rain and Thunderstorms in Delhi NCR For Next 2-3 Days

The upcoming weather activity is linked to a strong western disturbance affecting large parts of North India, including the National Capital Region. Typically associated with winter months, such systems originate over regions near the Mediterranean Sea or Atlantic Ocean and move eastward, carrying moisture before interacting with the Himalayan region.

What makes this system noteworthy is its intensity for this time of year. Weather experts indicate that disturbances of this strength are uncommon in April and are more frequently observed during peak winter months. The system is expected to remain active until around April 8 before gradually weakening by April 10.

Temperature Likely to Drop Across Delhi NCR

The changing weather pattern is expected to bring down temperatures across Delhi-NCR. The maximum temperature may dip to around 31 degrees Celsius on April 7 and remain at similar levels on April 8. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are likely to fall from about 20 degrees Celsius to nearly 18 degrees Celsius.

This drop will result in comparatively cooler days and nights, offering short-term respite from the heat. Residents can also expect breezy conditions along with intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms during this period.

Improved Air Quality Expected Amid Rain and Winds

Apart from temperature relief, the expected rainfall and gusty winds are likely to help improve air quality across the region. The dispersal of dust and pollutants could lead to cleaner air conditions, which is a positive development for residents who have been dealing with fluctuating pollution levels.
