Delhi weather conditions have taken a sharp turn for the worse as dense to very dense fog captured the National Capital Region, severely impacting air, rail, and road travel.
Poor visibility early Monday morning led to large-scale flight cancellations and delays at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport). Major airlines like IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have issued fresh travel advisories for passengers.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, at least 128 flights were cancelled, and eight flights were diverted at Delhi's IGI Airport due to zero-visibility fog conditions.
Flight operations at the Delhi Airport is currently undergoing via CAT III operations, which allow limited flight movement, but there may be delays and disruptions. Morning visibility at the airport dropped sharply, which made aircraft take-offs and landings extremely challenging for the aircraft pilots.
Delhi Airport Issues Advisory on Flight Delays
In an official update posted on X, Delhi Airport said, "Due to persistent dense fog, flight operations CAT III continue, which may result in flight delays. For the most up-to-date flight information, we request you contact your respective airlines or visit our website. Stakeholders are working to minimise inconvenience to passengers; we sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding."
The airport also advised travellers to stay in touch with airlines for real-time updates, as fog conditions may continue to disrupt schedules.
IndiGo Cancels Flights, Advises Passengers to Check Status
IndiGo Airlines confirmed that it cancelled over 70 flights as foggy conditions persisted across Delhi and several parts of North India. In its travel advisory, the airline said reduced visibility could impact both departures and arrivals as the day progresses.
IndiGo further stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and making operational adjustments wherever required. Passengers were advised to check flight status before leaving for the airport, allow extra travel time due to fog-affected road traffic, and stay alert for updates shared through registered contact details and digital platforms.
Air India and SpiceJet Also Issue Fog Advisories
Apart from IndiGo, Air India and SpiceJet also issued advisories cautioning passengers about possible delays and cancellations due to dense fog. The airlines urged travellers to remain patient, check schedules frequently, and reach the airport well in advance.

As per IMD forecasts, Delhi NCR continues to remain under dense fog conditions today, with minimum temperatures hovering between 6 and 8°C and maximum temperatures around 18-20°C.
