DGCA Orders Go First To Refund Passengers

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an order to Go First to process refunds to passengers after examining the response it got from the airlines.

On May 2, after canceling all its flights for May 3-5 and filing for voluntary insolvency with National Compnay Law Tribunal, Go First received a show-cause notice for the cancellations from the DGCA. The airlines asked for intervention from NCLT to prevent DGCA from taking any action through a plea.

Further, DGCA issues an order stating that it has examined the response from Go First according to the show cause notice, wherein the company mentioned that it has filed the insolvency papers with NCLT. The company will take further course of action as per the outcome of their application before the NCLT bench on Thursday.

DGCA took into consideration that the airlines had intimated the suspension of flights and also suspended the sale of flight bookings till May 15 and so ordered to process refunds. "DGCA has examined the response of Go First and has issued an order under the prevailing regulations directing them to process the refunds to passengers as per the timelines specifically stipulated in the relevant regulation." as per the DGCA, ANI tweeted.
