DGCA Sets New Record: Commercial Pilot Licences Soar in 2023

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reported a significant increase in the issuance of Commercial Pilot Licences (CPLs) in 2023. According to an official release, the DGCA issued 1,622 CPLs during the year, marking a 39% jump compared to the previous year. This achievement surpasses the previous record of 1,165 licences issued in 2022.

Notably, women pilots accounted for 18.12% of the total CPLs issued in 2023, reflecting a substantial 22.5% increase from the previous year. This milestone positions India as one of the leading nations in issuing women pilot licences. A Decade of Growth

The new helicopter flying training organisation is expected to bolster the helicopter industry, which plays a crucial role in regional connectivity services, pilgrimage, air-ambulance, and other essential operations. This initiative will provide an additional pool of skilled pilots beyond ex-military personnel, enhancing the industry's crew strength.
