Indian Oil Corporation Confirms No Fuel Price Hike Today

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) in an official press release, stated on Friday that petrol and diesel prices will remain the same despite elevated global energy prices. The oil major's statement made clear that no revision has been made to pump prices, even as international crude oil benchmarks have nearly doubled, rising by over 72% before the West Asia conflict started.

The government also said earlier this week that there is no proposal to hike fuel prices in the country.

Revised Export Levies on Petroleum Products from May 1, 2026

While domestic prices remain unchanged, the government on Thursday notified revised export duties on petroleum products for the fortnight beginning May 1, 2026:

As per the latest notification, export duty on diesel has been set at Rs. 23 per litre, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) will attract a higher levy of Rs. 33 per litre. Petrol, however, continues to remain duty-free with zero export tax.

Petrol is most expensive in Thiruvananthapuram (Rs. 107.48), Hyderabad (Rs. 107.46), and Kolkata (Rs. 105.41), while it is cheapest in Chandigarh (Rs. 94.30), Lucknow (Rs. 94.73), and New Delhi/Noida (Rs. 94.77). The price gap between the highest and lowest stands at Rs. 13.18 per litre, mainly due to state taxes.

For diesel, Thiruvananthapuram (Rs. 96.48), Hyderabad (Rs. 95.70), and Chennai (Rs. 92.61) are the costliest, whereas Chandigarh (Rs. 82.45), New Delhi (Rs. 87.67), and Gurgaon (Rs. 87.77) offer the lowest rates.
