Digi Yatra Likely To Be Launched At 14 More Airports By July End: Check Full List Here

DigiYatra, a biometric-based smartphone application for airport entry, will be introduced to 14 additional airports. DigiYatra helps you to get rid of long queues waiting that form before entering the airports.

At present, DigiYatra's facility is available at 13 airports. These are Delhi, Varanasi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Pune, Cochin, Guwahati, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.

The 14 airports where biometric services would be implemented are, Patna, Ranchi, Bagdogra, Indore, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Chandigarh, Mangalore, Dabolim, Raipur, Trivandrum, Srinagar, Nagpur, and Vishakhapatnam.

DigiYatra biometric-based mobile application offers passengers a time saving airport experience. The primary goal of this facility is to improve the passenger experience at airports by reducing the requirement for human validation of tickets and identity papers at many contact points.

The technique has been efficient during busy travel seasons in decongesting airport departure terminal areas where it has been applied. Last month alone, the mobile application had received over four million downloads, with an average download rate of 24,000 per day.

Digi Yatra Foundation's CEO is Suresh Khadakbhavi. The foundation, a non-profit organization, serves as the nodal agency for Digi Yatra, which was launched in December 2022. While Digi Yatra is gaining pace, there have been concerns raised in different circles over the protection of travelers' data.

Earlier, in an attempt to allay fears, Khadakbhavi stated that Digi Yatra did not hold any passenger data. The data provided by a passenger for Digi Yatra is encrypted. To use the service, a passenger must register his or her data on the Digi Yatra app utilizing Aadhaar-based validation and a self-image capture. The next step is to scan the boarding pass and transmit the credentials with the airport.
