'Dil Maange More Films Like This!' Anand Mahindra Explains Why To Watch 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey Reacts

Among many fans who have been in awe and gushed about 12th Fail, one of the most successful films of 2023, Indian billionaire businessman Anand Mahindra has also joined the league. The chairman of Mahindra Group finally saw the much-praised film starring Vikrant Massey over the last weekend. After watching it, Mahindra said, "yeh dil maange more films like this!" The actor Massey has also reacted to Mahindra's heartfelt praises.

Despite being a very busy man and managing trillions worth conglomerate, Anand has often expressed his opinions and created awareness for everything that he believes in. So when Mahindra was finally done watching 12th Fail, over this past weekend, he did not shy away from writing heartfelt views and praises to the film, 12th Fail and its cast.

Through his Twitter now known as X handler, Mahindra said, "Finally saw '12th FAIL' over this past weekend. If you see only ONE film this year, make it this one."

Why? Mahindra explained three important reasons to watch 12th Fail.

First is the plot of the film. Mahindra said, "This story is based on real-life heroes of the country. Not just the protagonist, but the millions of youth, hungry for success, who struggle against extraordinary odds to pass what is arguably one of the most competitive exams in the world."

Second, is the acting of Vikrant Massey and the directing of the cast by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Mahindra said, "Vidhu Chopraa does a brilliant job of the casting. Each character is credible in the role & they turn in gritty, passionate performances. But Vikrant Massey delivers a bravura performance that merits a National Film Award. He was not just acting out the character's life, he was living it."

And third is the narrative style by 12th Fail. The 68-year-old billionaire said, "Vidhu Chopra emphatically reminds us that great cinema is about great stories. Period. And that special effects are no match for the simplicity & authenticity of a story well told."

The highlight for Mahindra was the interview scene in the film. He said, "Yes, it may seem a bit contrived, but the profound dialogue makes this sequence hit you squarely between the eyes and shows you what India must do to build a new Bharat."

The interview scene revolves around the nail-biting and see-saw-like nerve-wrecking emotions that candidates including Massey and Manoj Kumar Sharma, go through before stepping inside the UPSC building for their final interview.

Mahindra ended his tweet by saying, "Mr Chopra, yeh dil maange more films like this! "

Right after Mahindra's appreciation, the actor who has been the talk of B-Town for his extraordinary acting in 12th Fail, Massey reacted.

Massey reacted to Mahindra saying, "Your appreciation for our efforts and recommendation for the film means the world to me. And I'm sure each & every member of our team shares the same excitement." The actor added, "You've been an inspiration to millions through your commitment to excellence & compassion."

"Guess we did something right. Thank you again," Massey said. Anand responded back saying, "You have a special talent, Vikrant Massey. Use it well..."

12th Fail hit Indian cinema on October 27 last year and made its digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on December 29. As per reports, the movie is also being sent as an independent nomination to the 2024 Oscars.

A major hit in 2023, and still trending, 12th Fail is a biographical drama film produced, written and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie depicts the real-life struggles of Manoj Kumar Sharma who overcame extreme poverty to become an Indian Police Service officer. Alongside Massey, Medha Shankar played the role of IRS officer, Shraddha Joshi who is the real-wife of Sharma.

Other casts of 12th Fail are Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, and Sanjay Bishnoi.
