Delhi Police has denied permission for singer Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, because of some specific threat-related inputs and security concerns during the ongoing festive season.

Singer & Actor Diljit Dosanjh was going to perform on October 30, the opening show of his 'Aura India Tour'.

Diljit Dosanjh Delhi Concert

In an official letter dated October 21, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South District, informed BookMyShow Live Private Limited that its request to organise the musical event featuring Dosanjh could not be approved.

"In view of the specific threat-related inputs, coupled with the multifarious security and law & order commitments arising out of the ongoing festive season and other important law & order concerns, the same cannot be acceded to," the letter stated.

Reason Behind the Decision

According to the police letter, the permission was denied due to security threats and other law-and-order concerns. However, the letter did not explain what the threats were or provide details about them.

Some media reports, quoting unnamed senior police officers, have suggested that the threats may be linked to Khalistani separatist groups. However, the police letter does not mention these groups, and the exact nature of the threats has not been officially disclosed.

Delhi Concert Was Scheduled to Open Aura India Tour

The Delhi concert was scheduled to start off Dosanjh's 'Aura India Tour', which is planned across multiple cities over six weeks. The tour is expected to include performances in cities such as Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lucknow, among others.

The Delhi show had initially been scheduled for November 1 before being moved to October 30. The date change was made with a request from Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney, who had asked for a rescheduling because November 1 is the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence.

Dilemma for Ticket Holders

Fans who purchased the tickets are now waiting for the official announcement from BookMyShow Live and Dosanjh's team regarding possible refunds, rescheduling or alternative arrangements.

As of October 23 no major updates for the Delhi event have been announced Organisers have yet to provide a confirmed resolution in the information available for this report.
