The government will take steps to privatise power distribution companies (DISCOMs) in union territories, the Finance Minister said, while announcing the fourth tranche of her economic package.
"Inefficiencies of the distribution companies will not be allowed to hurt consumers," Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman said.
The government would also take steps to ensure Discom functions are streamlined to improve accountability.
