Dish TV And Other DTH Players Mixed On TRAIs Interoperability Rules

On Saturday, the regulator TRAI has recommended that all DTH and cable set top boxes offered to customers must support interoperability and also pushed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to make it compulsory going forward by allowing requisite provisions.

In view of this as some of the sector players including Dish TV, Sun TV etc. have gone down.

So, with the new ruling that shall be in place after the recommendation, DTH consumers in some time will be able to change their subscribers without actually changing their set-top boxes.

"All the set-top-boxes in India must support technical interoperability in principle, i.e. every STB provided to a consumer must be interoperable," the TRAI recommended.

Zee Entertainment is another stock that cracked as much as 8% in early trade that can also be discounting this ruling.

As of now set top boxes cannot be used interchangeably.

This ruling can prove to be a hit on DTH operators.
