After a strong opening with nearly 1% upside each, Sensex and Nifty 50 ended on a positive note however witnessed a slight pullback in the last-minute trade. Sensex and Nifty 50 were up by over half a per cent. All sectoral indices were in green with strong buying seen in industrials, utilities, auto, capital goods, consumer durables, metals and power stocks. Broadly, indices traded higher between 1-2%.
Notably, midcap stocks were also in green, but it would be smallcap stocks that outperformed both benchmarks Sensex and Nifty 50. BSE Smallcap index touched a new lifetime high of 38,901.61. Bank Nifty also ended higher.
Top IT stocks were major bulls including Infosys, Wipro and TCS which gained by1-1.5%. Other stocks like Asian Paints, Nestle, Titan, HDFC Bank, Reliance, L&T, Tata Steel, ITC, NTPC, HCL Tech, Nestle, and Maruti Suzuki gained between 0.5-1%. Stocks like Apollo Hospital, LTIMindtree, Sun Pharma, BPCL and Bajaj Finserv were top losers.
From last year to current Muhurat trading, Sensex and Nifty 50 have gained significantly and investors' wealth has witnessed an exponential rise. Since last year Muhurat trading to the current one, Sensex has gained by 5,597.53 points or 9.43%, while Nifty 50 has rallied by 1,849.05 points or 10.52% to date. From last year's muhurat trading, Nifty has outperformed its counterpart Sensex. Also, BSE-listed companies' market cap stood at Rs 2,74,41,800.53 crore as of October 21, 2022, which has skyrocketed to Rs 3,20,29,232.24 crore as of November 10, 2023. This would be a rise of Rs 45,87,431.71 crore in investors' wealth.
Muhurat trading takes place irrespective of the day when the celebration of Laxmi Pujan occurs either the weekend or weekdays.
