Dixon Technologies has started producing fixed broadband devices in India, partnering with Nokia, a Finnish telecom company. This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for fixed broadband services in India, driven by the adoption of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technologies. A joint statement highlighted this development.

The manufacturing will occur at Dixon Electro's facility in Noida, a subsidiary of Dixon Technologies. The plant is set to produce up to 10 million devices annually. These devices include GPON, 5G FWA, and Mesh Wi-Fi, capable of delivering speeds up to one gigabit per second per home.
Broadband Infrastructure and Local Impact
Nokia's Research and Development Centre in Chennai will lead the design and development of these devices. Meanwhile, Dixon Electro will manage large-scale production. This initiative is expected to create around 3,000 new jobs, boosting the local economy.
Nokia holds a leading position in broadband infrastructure equipment in India. It supports over half of India's FTTH infrastructure and connects many homes with its fiber broadband equipment. The addition of 5G FWA and Wi-Fi beacons enhances its offerings for Indian operators.
Commitment to Digital Transformation
The partnership between Nokia and Dixon aims to improve connectivity and accelerate India's digital transformation. They are focused on providing next-generation broadband solutions to Indian households.
Atul B Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, stated: "Our partnership with Nokia represents a milestone in India’s manufacturing sector, supporting the vision of a self-reliant India. As we begin local production of these advanced broadband devices, Dixon reaffirms its commitment to expanding India’s electronics ecosystem."
Sandy Motley, VP of Fixed Networks at Nokia, commented: "Through this partnership, we aim to support India’s transition to a digitally connected future, leveraging Nokia’s expertise in FTTH and FWA technologies."
Dixon Technologies' Growth and Operations
Dixon Technologies reported a revenue of Rs 6,411 crore for FY24. The company operates across 23 facilities nationwide and serves over 100 clients. This expansion into broadband device manufacturing marks a significant step in its growth strategy.
This collaboration between Dixon Technologies and Nokia signifies a crucial advancement in India's electronics manufacturing landscape. By focusing on cutting-edge broadband solutions, they aim to enhance connectivity and support India's digital evolution.
