DMart continued to expand its retail footprint during the quarter, taking its total store count to 518 as of September 30, 2026, compared with 503 stores at the end of June.
The company added 15 stores on a net basis during the September quarter. The reported store count includes its Sanpada store in Navi Mumbai, which is currently closed for reconstruction.
Store expansion remains an important part of DMart's growth strategy as it seeks to increase its presence across markets and reach more customers.
Profitability and Same-Store Sales Data Awaited
While the business update points to stronger revenue growth, it does not include details on profitability, operating margins or same-store sales growth. Investors will have to wait for the company's full quarterly results to assess whether the higher revenue has translated into improved earnings.
DMart operates in an increasingly competitive retail environment, with pressure from established retailers and the growing presence of quick-commerce platforms. The impact of competition on customer footfall, average transaction values and operating costs will be among the key factors to watch.
The company's like-for-like sales growth will also be closely monitored, as it provides insight into the performance of existing stores, separate from the contribution of newly opened outlets.
