Domestic And International Passenger Flights Suspension Extended To 14 April
On Friday, the aviation regulator DGCA extended the ban on all domestic flights operations across India to 14 April as the country steps up its efforts to fight COVID-19. Earlier, the suspension was imposed till 31 March.
"All domestic operators engaged in scheduled, non-scheduled and private aircraft operations in India shall ensure strict compliance of the order," the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a memo signed by Deputy Director General Sunil Kumar today.
On Thursday, the DGCA had announced the suspension of all commercial passenger flights till 14 April.
These restrictions are not applicable to cargo operations and flights specially approved by DGCA.
India is currently in a 21-day lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of its efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic in the country. The lockdown became effective on 25 March.
Indian Railways have also halted all operations during the lockdown phase and inter-state movement is being monitored to allow only essential services such as groceries and medical supplies to pass through.
