Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales Growth In October Remained Almost Flat

For the month of October, domestic passenger vehicle sales saw a marginal increase of 0.28 percent to 2,85,027 units from 2,84,223 units a year ago, as per data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Domestic car sales fell by 6.3 percent to 1,73,649 units when compared to 1,85,400 units in October 2018. Truck and bus sales in the country declined by 23.3 percent to 66,773 units.

In the last month, motorcycle sales fell by 15.88 percent to 11,16,970 units as against 13,27,758 units a year ago. Total two-wheeler sales for the month declined 14.43 percent to 17,57,264 units when compared to 20,53,497 units in October 2018.

Commercial vehicles sales were down 23.31 percent to 66,773 units in the month of review.

SIAM data showed that barring utility vehicles, passenger carriers and quadricycles, all other vehicle categories witnessed decline in sales during the month. Vehicle sales across categories registered a decline of 12.76 percent to 21,76,136 units from 24,94,345 units in October 2018.
