DRDO Empowers Defence Producers with Critical Technology Transfer

DRDOs licensing agreements enable defence producers to manufacture military equipment, enhancing self-reliance and boosting the defence manufacturing sector.

In a significant move to bolster India's defence manufacturing capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over 23 licensing agreements to various defence producers on Sunday. This technology transfer will enable the production of a wide range of military equipment in the domains of armaments, naval systems, and aeronautics, among others.

DRDOs Tech Transfer Revolutionizes Defence Production

Technologies Transferred by DRDO

The technologies being transferred by DRDO cover diverse areas such as electronics, laser systems, armaments, life sciences, combat vehicles, naval systems, and aeronautics. These technologies will facilitate the manufacturing of essential military equipment, including brakes for the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas, 100-metre infantry foot bridge floating, 40 mm high explosive anti-personnel HEAP grenade, and high-pressure water mist fire suppression system (HPWMFSS).

Boost to Defence Manufacturing and Self-Reliance

The products developed using these DRDO technologies will significantly contribute to the growth of the defence manufacturing sector and enhance India's self-reliance in defence. The DRDO also presented SAMAR System for Advance Manufacturing Assessment and Rating assessment certificates to nine industry partners. SAMAR serves as a benchmark to evaluate the competency of defence manufacturing enterprises.

DRDO's Commitment to Supporting Defence Industries

Addressing defence manufacturers, DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat reaffirmed the organization's commitment to providing comprehensive technology support for the development of Indian defence industries. He highlighted the recent successes of DRDO products in bolstering the country's self-reliance in defence technology and creating immense opportunities for industries in the defence manufacturing sector.

Policies and Procedures for Defence Manufacturers

During the event, industry executives were informed about the latest policies and procedures through which DRDO supports defence manufacturers. These policies include technology transfer, test and evaluation support, technological and scientific support, research and development funding to the industry, and free use of DRDO patents by manufacturers.

The transfer of critical technologies by DRDO to defence producers marks a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in defence manufacturing and strengthening India's defence capabilities. By leveraging these technologies and collaborating with the defence industry, India aims to become a hub of defence manufacturing and contribute to the nation's overall security and economic growth.
