Electric truck leasing: Drivn and Energy In Motion target 1,000 heavy-duty EV trucks across India

EV leasing platform Drivn has signed an initial pact with Energy In Motion (EIM) to deploy about 1,000 heavy-duty electric trucks across India over two years. The partners will align on specifications and delivery, while supporting fleet operators with leasing, financing, lifecycle management, maintenance, and access to charging and battery-swapping solutions.

EV leasing platform Drivn said it signed an initial pact with OEM Energy In Motion EIM. The deal aims to deploy around 1,000 heavy-duty electric trucks across India. The rollout is planned over the next two years. Drivn said the tie-up is meant to make electric trucking easier for fleet operators.

Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly spot deployment opportunities across markets. Drivn said both sides will align on vehicle specifications and manage delivery timelines. The plan also includes after-sales support. This will cover maintenance and access to charging and battery-swapping solutions.

Energy in Motion is an associate venture of Ravindra Energy Limited REL, Drivn said. EIM is an OEM for heavy-duty electric trucks. The trucks feature battery-swapping technology. The company is also a solutions provider, according to Drivn’s statement on the partnership.

Drivn electric trucks partnership: executives on economics and adoption

"This partnership with Energy in Motion brings together complementary strengths across vehicles, energy infrastructure, and financing, allowing us to offer a more complete and practical solution to our customers,\" said Manav Bansal, CEO and Co-founder, Drivn. Bansal said scaling depends on commercial performance for fleet operators.

Bansal said intent to adopt electric trucks already exists among operators. Bansal added that a shift will follow clear economics and consistent performance. Dependable operations will also shape the transition, according to Bansal. \"We believe this partnership will help fleet operators move to electric with greater confidence and at a more meaningful scale,\" Bansal added.

Drivn said the partnership builds on its recent USD 80 million commitment from Nomura. Drivn also cited ongoing MoUs across the electric mobility ecosystem. The company said these efforts support coordinated deployment across vehicles, energy systems, and fleet operations in India.

\"Through this collaboration, we are aligning vehicle supply, financing structures, and lifecycle support in a way that reduces complexity for the end user,\" said Alpna Jain, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer, Drivn. Jain said the shift remains a business decision for most fleet operators.

Jain said the decision depends on how simple the process feels for operators. Jain added that predictable costs and ecosystem reliability matter most. \"It comes down to how simple the process is, how predictable the costs are, and how reliable the overall ecosystem feels,\" she stated.
