Dubai To Remove Movement Restrictions, Allow Economic Activity From 27 May

Dubai will allow free movement and business activity from 27 May said Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed on Monday. There will be no restrictions on movement or business operations between 6 am to 11 pm, the Dubai Media Office said in a press release.

Some retail and wholesale businesses will also be allowed to reopen subject to further sterilization operations and social distancing measures, the media office said on Twitter.

Cinemas, fitness centres and education and treatment centres for children, ENT Clinics and surgeries that go up 2 and a half hours will be allowed

Entertainment centres and recreational venues like the Dubai Ice Rink and Dolphinarium, government centres like Amer and Tasheel will reopen.

Earlier, during the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims, that began on 24 April, malls were allowed to be reopened with limited capacity along with dine-in restaurants, cafes and public parks with restrictions.

Monday's announcement will reverse a measure taken last week by the UAE to extend its nationwide curfew by two hours after reporting an increase in daily cases of COVID-19. 822 new cases were reported in UAE on Monday taking the cumulative total to 30,307, with 248 deaths.

It was also informed that the Dubai airport will begin to receive returning residents and travellers in transit on 27 May. All passengers arriving in the country will have to adhere to the 14 days quarantine rule.

All businesses will have to abide by with new sterilisation timings and everyone visiting these places will have to wear masks and maintain 2-meter social distance.

Children under 12 and elderly above 60 years of age and people with chronic diseases are not allowed to enter shopping centres, cinemas, gyms and educational institutes.
