Edelweiss Financial Services Divests 7.14% Stake in Nuvama Wealth Management for Rs 1,759 Crore

Edelweiss Financial Services, led by Rashesh Shah, reduced its stake in Nuvama Wealth Management by 7.14% through an open market sale, generating Rs 1,759 crore. Formerly known as Edelweiss Wealth Management, Nuvama is a publicly traded company. The transaction involved two affiliates of Edelweiss Financial Services, Ecap Equities Ltd and Edel Finance Company Ltd, selling a total of 25.50 lakh shares.

Edelweiss Sells Stake in Nuvama Wealth

The shares were sold at prices ranging from Rs 6,854.15 to Rs 6,941.30 each, bringing the total value of the transaction to Rs 1,759.44 crore. In a related development, Kotak Mutual Fund acquired 2.71 lakh shares of Nuvama Wealth Management, representing a 0.8% stake. These shares were purchased at an average price of Rs 6,851 per share, amounting to a deal value of Rs 185.78 crore.

Nuvama Wealth Management Stake Changes

Details regarding other buyers of Nuvama Wealth Management's shares remain undisclosed on the NSE. In October, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) issued an administrative warning to Nuvama Wealth following an inspection of its merchant banking activities. This regulatory action highlighted concerns about the company's compliance with certain guidelines.

In August this year, Rashesh Shah sold an additional 4 lakh shares of Nuvama Wealth for Rs 248 crore. Another investor, Venkatchalam Ramaswamy, also divested his holdings in the company earlier. These transactions reflect ongoing changes in the ownership structure of Nuvama Wealth Management.
