As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar, Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 bank holiday is expected on March 21, in most parts of India. However, some states may observe the holiday on March 20, depending on local moon sightings.

In some states like West Bengal, schools may observe holidays around March 20, especially if aligned with weekends or nearby festivals.
Stock Market on Eid 2026: No Holiday Despite Festive Rush
Even as India will celebrate a series of major festivals next week, the stock markets will not take a break during this period. Eid and other festivals like Ugasi, gudi padwa, are not part of the official trading holiday schedule of the exchanges.
According to the official stock market holiday list released by the BSE and NSE, there are no closure between March 19 and March 21. All segments of the market including equity trading, derivatives, currency markets, and commodities will remain fully operational.
Government Offices and Market Closures
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr 2026, most central government offices, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and courts will remain closed on March 21. Post offices and courts will follow state-wise holiday schedules. No nationwide extended long weekend, but local holidays may vary
