Eid al-Fitr 2025 Date: The special and longest festival of Islam, Ramadan which is also popularly known as Eid al-Fitr, is likely to be celebrated across the globe either on March 30th or March 31. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the month-long fasting by Muslims worldwide for Ramadan. Usually, Ramadan is declared a public holiday by countries.

1. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Arabia which is a holy land for Muslims worldwide due to the presence of Mecca over here, has announced to observe the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday, March 29. Once the crescent moon is observed in the skies, the next day would be the celebration of Eid Al Fitr.

The Shawwal crescent moon resembles the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid al-Adha which falls on the first day of Shawwal which is considered as the tenth month in the Islamic calendar.

That being said, if the Shawwal moon appears on March 29, Saudi Arabia will celebrate EID on Sunday, March 30.

As per the Saudi Gazette, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Abdullatif Al-Sheikh directed the ministry's branches across the Kingdom to hold the Eid Al-Fitr prayer in all designated Eid prayer grounds 15 minutes after sunrise. The prayers will also take place in all mosques, except those adjacent to Eid prayer grounds and those not frequented for the Eid prayer in certain villages and towns, as residents will use their local Eid prayer grounds instead.

At present, there are about 19,887 mosques and prayer grounds in Saudi Arabia.

2. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in United Arab Emirates (UAE):

Just like Saudi, another Middle Eastern country UAE has announced that its Shawwal Crescent Sighting Committee will observe the crescent on Saturday evening, 29 March 2025 (29 Ramadan 1446 AH), at Qasr Al Hosn, Abu Dhabi, using five AI-powered observatories and drones to document the sighting with the highest global standards.

UAE will observe the crescent moon through: five national observatories; drones that are equipped with precision lenses and capable of flying over 300m above ground level. Also, USE will use AI technologies to analyse images and accurately determine the crescent moon's birth and visibility. The committee invited AI Shawwafs to take part in the sighting and submit their testimonies via official communication channels.

Hence, here, Eid will also take place on March 30. That being said, Eid will be celebrated in popular tourist destinations of UAE such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi on March 30th as well.

3. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Malaysia:

However, Malaysia has announced that the sun has set in the country and its Eid al-Fitr will be on Monday, marking March 9th as the 28th day of Ramadan. Hence, Malaysia expects the appearance of the crescent moon on Sunday.

4. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Kuwait:

Also, part of the Middle Eastern region, Kuwait is expecting the sighting of the crescent moon on March 29th, followed by Eid on March 30th.

5. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Australia:

The Australian National Imams Council confirmed that Ramadan month will complete 30 days with Sunday, March 30th 2025, being the last day of Ramadan for 1446AH-2025. Hence, it announced that Eid al-Fitr will be held on Monday, 31st March 2025, and the first day of the month of Shawwal 1446AH-2025.

The method by which the Grand Mufti of Australia and the Australian Fatwa Council determined the end of the month of Ramadan, the first day of Shawwal, and the day of Eid Al-Fitr is based on the calculated birth of the moon before sunset, the duration of the moonset after sunset, and the possibility of sighting the moon. This is a method that has been adopted by many prominent and reputable global scholarly councils, as per the council's X post.

6. Eid-ul-Fitr in India:

In India, the Shawwal crescent moon is expected to be visible on March 30th, while the festival will be celebrated on March 31 and April 1. The central government, RBI and stock market have declared an official holiday on March 31 for Eid.

7. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Western countries like the US, UK and others:

Western giants like USA, UK, France and Germany are likely to follow the sighting reports of Saudi Arabia. If that takes place, March 29th will become the last day of Ramadan, and March 30th will become the beginning of Eid.

Eid al-Fitr is the 'Festival of Breaking the Fast') is the first of the two main festivals in Islam, the other being Eid al-Adha. It falls on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide because it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-dusk fasting of Ramadan. 8. Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 in Pakistan and Bangladesh

In the two neighbouring countries of India, namely Bangladesh and Pakistan, EID usually falls a day after Middle East and western countries. Hence, the sighting of crescent moon is expected on March 30, and the celebration of Eid on March 31, which is similar like in India.
