Emirates, the world's largest international airline, announced a temporary suspension of all flights to and from Dubai and urged travellers not to proceed to Dubai International Airport until further notice, emphasising that passenger and crew safety is the top priority.

Etihad Airways also adjusted operations, introducing a reduced schedule from Abu Dhabi to select international destinations as an alternative during the disruption.

Air India Express has cancelled its services between Mangaluru and Dubai, Dammam and Abu Dhabi on both days, while continuing to operate flights to other destinations such as Mangaluru-Jeddah and Mangaluru-Sharjah.

Airport sources said the disruptions are linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has already affected international operations from the coastal city since February 28.

Dubai International Airport Operations Halted

Meanwhile, operations at Dubai International Airport were temporarily halted after a drone struck a fuel tank near the facility in the early hours of March 16, triggering a large fire and prompting emergency safety measures. Authorities grounded all flights as a precaution while response teams secured the affected area and assessed potential risks to passengers, aircraft and infrastructure.
