EPFO Credits 8.5% Interest In 22.55 Cr Accounts For FY 20-21: Steps To Check Balance

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) unveiled today via its official Twitter handle that it has credited an interest rate of 8.50 percent to 22.55 crore account holders for the financial year (FY) 2020-21. "22.55 crore accounts have been credited with an interest of 8.50% for the FY 2020-21" said EPFO in a Tweet today. EPFO currently provides an interest rate of 8.50% to its active members. According to an official memorandum issued on 30th October 2021, EPFO had said that "The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has conveyed the approval of the Central Government under para 60(1) of Employees' Provident Fund Scheme, 1952 to credit interest at 8.50 per cent for the year 2020-21 to the account of each member of the EPF Scheme as per the provisions under Para 60 of EPF Scheme, 1952."

EPF members can now check their PF account balance to make a confirmation of the interest credit and for the same, they can go through both online and offline ways. Through online an EPF member can check his or her account balance by visiting https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login where UAN/Universal Account Number is required to check PF passbook. Or else the member can also check his EPF balance by logging into the UMANG app and searching for EPFO services.

Registered EPF members on the UAN portal can also get their account details recorded with EPFO by giving a missed call to 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. A member can get the details of the last contribution and PF Balance if his or her UAN is seeded with any one of the Bank A/C number, AADHAAR, and PAN. If a member has not activated his or her UAN, he or she can visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ to activate the same. To avail EPF facility, EPF members should first confirm that their mobile number is must registered with UAN at Unified Portal, and any of the KYC such as Bank A/c Number, Aadhaar or PAN must be done against UAN.

English (default), Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali are the ten languages accepted by EPFO.
