After joining an establishment, the Employee Provident Fund Organization provides you a UAN, which stands for Universal Account Number. The UAN will serve as a catch-all for the Member Ids assigned to an individual by various establishments. UANs are assigned to all EPFO contributing members and issued through employers. UAN is necessary to utilize various EPF account services such as withdrawal from EPF account, checking PF balance, downloading EPF statement, transferring PF balance online, and more. In order to generate a UAN, the EPFO has recently shared a tweet following which a member can easily generate a UAN online.

Steps To Generate UAN Online

In order to generate UAN, first, you need to keep in mind that your Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active, and also you need to keep your identity proof active.

• Visit https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and click on 'Direct UAN Allotment by Employees' under the 'Important Links' section.
• On the next page, enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and enter the security CAPTCHA code, and then click on 'Generate OTP'.
• On the next page enter the received OTP and click on 'Submit'.
• On the next page, accept the declaration and select your employment category from the drop-down menu.
• Now select your establishment ID, date of joining, and identity proof type.
• Now enter your Aadhaar Number/Virtual ID and then enter the required CAPTCHA code.
• Now click on 'Generate OTP' and on the next page enter the OTP you received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
• Accept the 'Consent' and click on 'Submit'.
• On the next page, verify your Personal Details, and KYC Details, and then click on 'Register' to get your UAN on your registered mobile number.

EPFO has also claimed that it has added 9.20 lakh subscribers in the month of May 2021.
