New Delhi, Mar 20 - In a significant corporate reshuffle, telecom equipment manufacturer Ericsson announced the appointment of Andres Vicente as the new head of market area South East Asia, Oceania, and India, alongside his role as Senior Vice President. Vicente, who is presently leading Ericsson's Customer Unit Iberia within the market areas of Europe and Latin America, is set to succeed Nunzio Mirtillo following his retirement announcement in October 2023.

Ericsson CEO Borje Ekholm expressed his confidence in Vicente's capabilities, highlighting his extensive industry knowledge and profound grasp of commercial strategies crucial for Ericsson's future achievements. "I'm very pleased that Andres has accepted to take on this role. His knowledge of our industry and deep understanding of the commercial aspects that are vital to our continued success will prove themselves very valuable to me and to his colleagues in the market area," Ekholm stated.
Vicente is slated to commence his new duties on May 1, 2024, with Singapore serving as his base of operations. This strategic move underscores Ericsson's commitment to bolstering its presence in one of its most dynamic growth regions - South East Asia, Oceania, & India. "Market Area South East Asia, Oceania & India is one of the most exciting growth regions for Ericsson and our Market Area team has strong execution abilities. I’m excited to soon be working alongside them and with our customers to co-create the innovations that will shape our industry and enable mutual success," Vicente remarked regarding his upcoming role.
Prior to joining Ericsson in 2021, Vicente amassed a wealth of experience during a 25-year tenure at Vodafone. His roles there spanned various commercial capacities, including leadership positions in marketing and sales across different market segments. This extensive background equips Vicente with a unique perspective and skill set to drive Ericsson's strategic initiatives in the region.
The leadership transition comes at a pivotal time for Ericsson as it seeks to expand its influence and operational capabilities across South East Asia, Oceania, and India. With Vicente at the helm, the company is poised to navigate the complexities of the telecom industry while fostering innovation and collaboration with its customers.
