Etihad Airways initiated a voucher on Wednesday giving passengers 50 percent extra cash value for travel over the two-year period beginning August 1. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, flight operations across the globe have significantly decreased and airlines have taken different steps to increase profitability.
In a statement released, Etihad stated that passengers will be able to purchase the travel voucher at any time between June 10 and June 24 and will receive an additional 50 percent cash value in the voucher that can be used for travel. Since 23 March scheduled international passenger flights have remained suspended in the nation.
Similarly, from May 25, domestic passenger flights started in India, after a disparity of two months.
"Etihad Travel Vouchers are accessible in amounts of USD 250 to a maximum of USD 65,000. The price of the voucher purchased plus 50 percent additional credit will be transferred to a Travel Bank account for future redemption on airlines, enhancements and add-ons," the airline stated.
International airline agency IATA stated on Tuesday that airlines around the world are expected to drop USD 84.3 billion in 2020, naming it the "worst" period of the aviation industry. Although the number of cases of coronavirus continues to increase worldwide, different countries have restarted domestic and international air flights, but with considerable precautionary measures and in a limited manner.
