Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at several airports, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad. This initiative aims to enhance immigration facilities for travellers, ensuring a seamless and secure international travel experience. The programme was launched at an event at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

The FTI-TTP was initially introduced at Indira Gandhi International Airport in June last year. Now, it is expanding to seven additional airports, including Ahmedabad. The government plans to implement this programme at 21 major airports in its first phase. Currently, the facility is available free of charge for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
Online Registration and Biometric Process
Applicants can enrol in the FTI-TTP through an online portal at https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. They must complete the registration by providing personal details and uploading necessary documents. Biometric data will be collected either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or during airport transit.
Travellers registered under this programme will scan their airline-issued boarding pass at the e-gate, followed by their passport. At both arrival and departure points, biometric authentication will occur at the e-gates. Once authentication is successful, the e-gate will open automatically, granting immigration clearance.
This initiative represents a significant step towards modernising immigration processes in India. By streamlining procedures and enhancing security measures, the FTI-TTP aims to improve the overall travel experience for international passengers.
