It is a joint initiative of Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL), promoted by NHAI, and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

What Is OneTag FASTag Portability?

OneTag is a NETC FASTag portability facility that lets users change the bank issuing their FASTag without replacing the physical tag attached to their vehicle's windshield.

Previously, customers who wanted to switch FASTag issuer banks had to close their existing tag account, complete a fresh onboarding process and obtain a new physical FASTag. With OneTag, motorists can retain the same tag while moving to a different issuer bank.

After successful portability, the existing FASTag ID and vehicle registration number remain unchanged. This means users do not need to remove the sticker or obtain a replacement tag simply because they want to change banks.

How to Change FASTag Bank Using OneTag

FASTag users can start the portability process through the NHAI Rajmargyatra app. Here is how the process works:

Step 1: Open the Rajmargyatra mobile app and log in.
Step 2: Enter your vehicle registration number to check eligibility.
Step 3: Receive the six-digit Mobile Verification Code (MVC) from your current issuer bank.
Step 4: Complete the required verification and authorisation.
Step 5: Select the new FASTag issuer bank.
Step 6: Complete customer verification and wallet onboarding with the new bank.

Once portability is completed successfully, the existing FASTag ID linked to the vehicle registration number is unchanged.

Is Fresh KYC Required for OneTag?

Users must complete the verification and onboarding process with the new issuer bank. Reports on the facility state that fresh KYC is required when switching banks. Motorists should therefore be prepared to provide the information and documents requested during the new issuer's verification process.
