Festival Special Trains 2026: Indian Railways Announces 100+ Trains For Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath; Check List

Indian Railways is preparing for the annual festive travel rush with more than 100 special train services planned during the Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja period. The additional services are intended to give passengers more travel options as demand for trains usually rises sharply during the festival season.

The special train plan covers several major routes connecting northern, eastern, western and southern parts of the country. With a large number of passengers expected to travel towards their hometowns, the additional services are aimed at providing extra capacity on some of the busiest long-distance corridors.

According to the announced list, the festive program includes 102 train services, covering both directions on several routes. Passengers travelling between states such as Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana are among those who can benefit from the additional services.

The listed destinations include Asarva, Udhna, Sabarmati, Valsad, Dadar, Kolkata, Guwahati, SMVT Bengaluru, Madurai and Bandra Terminus. These connections are particularly relevant for passengers travelling between Uttar Pradesh and major employment, education and business centres during the festive period.

Bihar and West Bengal have also received significant coverage in the plan. Special services include Howrah-Raxaul, Sealdah-Patna, Sealdah-Sitamarhi, Kolkata-Madhubani, Asansol-Patna, Asansol-Gorakhpur and Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri.

The festive timetable also includes several long-distance services connecting the North East with other parts of India. Routes such as Howrah-Lumding, Kanpur Central-Guwahati, Santragachi-Naharlagun and Dibrugarh-Kolkata are part of the announced services.

The list includes Kanpur Central-SMVT Bengaluru, Kanpur Central-Madurai, Visakhapatnam-SMVT Bengaluru and Shalimar-Charlapalli. These routes are expected to cater to passengers travelling across states during the extended festive period.

Western destinations such as Udhna, Asarva, Valsad, Dadar and Bandra Terminus also feature in the railway plan. Such services can provide additional options for workers, students and other passengers travelling between major cities and their hometowns.

Festival Special Trains Schedule

Some of the services included in the wider festive plan are scheduled to operate on fixed days over several weeks, while others will run only on selected dates.

Train 04131 between Kanpur Central and SMVT Bengaluru will operate every Sunday from October 4 to November 15, 2026. Its return service, train 04132 from SMVT Bengaluru to Kanpur Central, is scheduled every Wednesday from October 7 to November 18, 2026.

Train 01925 connecting Kanpur Central with Madurai will run every Wednesday from September 2 to November 25, while train 01926 on the Madurai-Kanpur Central route will operate every Saturday from September 5 to November 28, 2026.

The Anand Vihar-Jogbani and Jogbani-Anand Vihar services, numbered 04003 and 04004, are listed for selected dates during the festive season.

Similarly, train 08047 will connect Howrah with Raxaul, with train 08048 operating in the reverse direction. Both services are planned for selected dates during October and November.

The Sealdah-Patna service, train 03105, and its return service 03106 between Patna and Sealdah are also scheduled on selected dates during October and November.

For passengers travelling between the North East and eastern India, train 05911 will operate between Dibrugarh and Kolkata on selected dates from September to November, with train 05912 running from Kolkata to Dibrugarh.
