Finance Bill Passed In Lok Sabha Without Discussion
On Monday, the Lok Sabha passed the Finance Bill 2020 without discussion.
The Union government said it was an "extraordinary situation", a reference to the coronavirus pandemic, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the bill for passage.
The House negated amendments moved by Opposition members.
Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Monday, nearly two weeks ahead of its scheduled conclusion on 3 April, in view of the coronavirus outbreak.
Minutes before Speaker Om Birla adjourned the house sine die, the Finance Bill 2020 was passed.
Further, Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu also announced that the House will be adjourned after the completion of the listed business for the day in the view of lockdown in New Delhi for the prevention of COVID-19 spread.
