First Robotic Process Automation Lab Inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh

The first robotic process automation lab under the IT ministry's Future Skill PRIME Project in Uttar Pradesh has been set up at NIELIT Gorakhpur. The lab was inaugurated by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary S Krishnan during the 26th All India Directors Meet of NIELIT.

In a significant step towards promoting digital skilling and enhancing employability, the first robotic process automation (RPA) lab under the IT Ministry's Future Skill PRIME Project has been established at NIELIT Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The inauguration of the state-of-the-art RPA lab was held on Tuesday, October 17, during the 26th All India Directors Meet of NIELIT, and was officiated by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary S Krishnan.

Bridging the Gap Between Industry and Academia

The Future Skill PRIME Project, funded by MeitY, aims to upskill and reskill manpower in the emerging technology of RPA. The RPA lab in NIELIT Gorakhpur is the first of its kind in Uttar Pradesh and has been established with the objective of bridging the gap between industry and academia. The lab will provide students and professionals with hands-on experience in RPA technologies, preparing them for careers in this rapidly growing field.

Transforming India into a Global Technology Powerhouse

Speaking at the inauguration, Secretary S Krishnan highlighted the pivotal role that the RPA lab will play in transforming India into a global technology powerhouse. He emphasized the potential of RPA in improving services to citizens by automating repetitive and manual processes, such as data entry and verification, thereby reducing clerical errors and response time. The lab will serve as a hub for innovation and skill development, fostering a culture of excellence and entrepreneurship among students and professionals.

Collaboration with Deen Dayal Upadhyay University

During the event, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Deen Dayal Upadhyay University (DDU) Gorakhpur and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) to conduct employment-oriented courses and training in future skill technology in the Gorakhpur region. This collaboration aims to make candidates industry-ready in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). DDU, with its vast network of over 350 colleges and 3 lakh candidates, will provide a platform for students to benefit from internships and programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the ICT sector. Additionally, the partnership will focus on skilling the youth of Purvanchal, who may face economic challenges, and equip them with the necessary skills to excel in the industry.

Promoting Technical Excellence and Innovation

NIELIT's vision for the RPA lab extends beyond skill development. The institute aims to establish a state-of-the-art facility that will focus on the advancement of technical education, skill development, and employment opportunities in the region. The lab will foster technical excellence, innovation, and promote entrepreneurship by nurturing startups. It will also cater to the demand for skilled manpower in the industries of GIDA, contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.

VMware's Partnership for Digital Skilling

In a separate development, VMware announced its partnership with Future Skills Prime and industry body Nasscom to boost digital skilling for students and graduates. Through this collaboration, VMware and Future Skills Prime will offer a comprehensive training program that covers the latest technologies and trends in cloud computing, virtualization, and networking. This initiative aims to equip learners with the skills required to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
