To ensure there is minimal person to person interface, the behemoth Indian Railways on Thursday said that QR code tickets will be generated for travellers booking tickets via both online and offline mode.

In the new ticket type, passenger booking a train ticket will get an SMS with the QR code that ticket checking person can scan with the help of handheld device. Similarly, platform tickets will also be made available.
On the move, the national carrier says that on a number of facets the Railways has taken on to digital means. Also, for the same, the new website of Railways is being designed and that shall go live in August. "Passengers will have much better experience when the new portal is launched," said a Railways official..
Also, in another development, as threat of coronavirus continues unabatedly, no additional trains will be running for now as special trains started since the lockdown are meeting most of the demand.
