State-run oil marketing companies including BPCL, HPCL and IOC began revising fuel rates on a daily basis on September 24 after international crude rates hit close to a 3-year high. Notably, now the crude prices internationally have hit 7-year high and fuel rates in the country have been kept unchanged after 7 consecutive days of hike.

International crude rates
The surge in domestic fuel price to record high comes on the back of international crude rates which are at their 7-month high levels.
Crude oil price holds importance as it is an important commodity and emerging markets including China, India and Latin America greatly influence the price of oil. International crude's benchmark is up by 1.5 percent at $83.53 per barrel and brent benchmark trades at 85.82 per barrel.
